Enrolling in our flooring apprenticeships provides skills and knowledge that prepares apprentices for our constantly evolving Industry and workforce.

In addition, graduates have access to future employment pathways in management, retail sales, business ownership, manufacturing and project management.

Overview

This program is available as Apprenticeship funded training, and as a Fee for Service qualification delivery and assessment for school leavers and non-qualified installers, who wish to seek a formal nationally accredited qualification.

It is delivered through our state-of-the-art Hybrid teaching and learning program and platform facilitated by leading Industry trainers and assessors.

Entry requirements

You must be employed by a Choices Flooring store or one of its regular sub-contractors. To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.

As this is an apprenticeship, you must have a training agreement with a registered employer from a relevant industry.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training applicants will complete a pre-training review and may be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment. These will assist with determining suitability to the course, verify the training plan and identify any learning support needs.

Apprenticeship

A training contract must be completed by the employer and apprentice within the first two weeks of employment.

An Australian Apprenticeship Support Network representative will visit the workplace to complete the training contract with the employer and the apprentice.

What will I learn?

This qualification provides you with a nationally recognised trade and with the required skills and knowledge to become a Flooring Technician who installs floors or flooring materials (carpet, timber, vinyl, resilient, resin or concrete) in residential or commercial premises.

Flooring technicians use a range of technical knowledge to perform skilled work involving known routines, methods and procedures. They use discretion and judgement to adapt and transfer their skills and knowledge to different job needs and take responsibility for their own work.

Fees

For Choices Flooring or associated apprentices, the qualification costs are paid by Newfurn Pty Ltd.

 RPL – $4500

  • Includes 2 Gap Training Units
  • $1500 on enrolment and $2500 balance on completion
  • Additional Gap Training $420 per unit

 If you have skills and knowledge experience in this field, then fast track your qualification with RPL.

 Qualification – $10,500 (Enrolments outside of Choices Flooring stores will need to be approved by the RTO Manager)

  • Payment Plans are available.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that can be completed in a short time frame. It’s based on skills, knowledge and evidence you have already acquired over the years to meet the requirements for the qualification.

Evidence for RPL may include:

  • Proven work experience
  • Life experiences (including voluntary work and leisure pursuits)
  • Previous study (Qualifications, industry training, professional development programs or units)
  • References from qualified persons

RPL can be conducted via online delivery and through workplace training.

If a student fails to demonstrate competency in some units required to gain the qualification, Gap Training is used to gain competency in those units. It can be customised to suit the individual client needs. Up to 4 units of gap training are included in your RPL Fee. Additional fees apply for further gap training units.

3 months enrolment period to complete RPL.
